SUSTAINABILITY AMBITION

As grown-ups, we believe that our little wild-kinds should be taught about respect, responsibility and care of nature. For us, sustainability is a journey, not a destination. Our sustainability mindset is not about being perfect, rather it is about constantly looking for ways to cause less harm and do more good.

We are a responsible clothing producer, and our factories have been granted with SA8000 certificate of fair working conditions. As proof of environmental efforts, our collections have GOTS certificate. Third-party audits, verifications, and certificates are an important part of our actions, as they guide us in creating a more sustainable future.

United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a plan for a better and more sustainable future for people and our planet earth. In our sustainability efforts, we are committed to following SDGs: #1: No poverty, #12: Responsible consumption and production and goal 15: Life on land.

We have divided our current sustainability efforts into four themes: planet, people, animals and care. We are at the beginning of our sustainability path, and we aim to improve our actions and reduce our emission in the future. Join us and follow our efforts along the way!

PLANET

At Wildkind Kids, the love for the planet and its wonderful creatures comes first. We want to help to protect and sustain the planet so that our kids can enjoy the wilderness too. That’s why we manufacture the collection with respect for the planet. Producing new clothing has an impact on the environment, yet that impact can be reduced by choosing responsibly manufactured items and making them last.

Wildkind Kids is committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production pattern. We are particularly going in for the goal 12.6 that encourages companies to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting.
ORGANIC JUNGLE GEAR
Wildkind Kids clothes are designed to last from kid to kid. That means we always invest in soft, high quality, organic cotton. Organic cotton is a better choice for nature, people working with it, and kids wearing the clothes because harmful chemicals are not used. The GOTS standard ensures that the people who harvest the cotton and make the fabric, are paid living wages and treated fairly.

Wildkind Kids collections are made up of 89% sustainably sourced materials.

GOTS – GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD
GOTS is the world's leading and most holistic standard for organic materials. It certifies clothing, all the way from raw material harvesting to the finished product. Fabrics are thoroughly verified in laboratories to check that they do not contain pesticides or hazardous chemicals. Find out more about GOTS.

71 % of the Wildkind Kids collection is manufactured of organic, GOTS-certified cotton.
NO OVERSTOCK
At Wildkind Kids, we use high-quality organic materials and manufacture clothing in whimsical, long-lasting designs that are not tied to seasons or trends. Many fashion brands waste the overstock of unsold and trend-tied collections in landfills or incinerate them. We want to use the natural resources in the smartest way possible, and that is why we manufacture only the amount of items what we are sure will sell. Not producing overstock means that precious natural resources are not wasted.

PEOPLE

All our friends are wild! Wildkind Kids stand for integrity and social justice. We have carefully selected our partnering factories in Chennai, India, based on their expertise, skills & ethics. Our suppliers offer fair working conditions and a safe workplace for the workers making Wildkind Kids clothing. The workers are paid a living wage, which covers basic needs such as food, housing, healthcare, education, and allows some savings.

Wildkind Kids is committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 1: End poverty. We are particularly set for goal 1.3 that aims to implement nationally appropriate social protection systems for all. For this goal, the SA8000 is an excellent tool.
SA8000® STANDARD
Social certification standard SA8000 means that manufacturers of Wildkind Kids apply socially acceptable practices for the workers in their factories. The criteria sets rules about child labour, forced labour, health and safety, freedom of association, discrimination, discipline, working hours, living wages and fair management. Find out more about SA8000.

ANIMALS

Paws united for all animals! Wildlife and animals are dear to Wildkind Kids, that’s why they deserve extra attention. As a sign of respect, we never use leather or fur in our collections.

Wildkind Kids is committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on land. We are particularly going in for goal 15. A that promotes increasing financial resources to conserve biodiversity and ecosystems.
ETHICAL & MULESING-FREE MERINO
Baa, sheep are our buddies! We believe that happy sheep make happy wool. Our merino wool accessories come from sheep that get smooth trims instead of painful mulesing procedures. Wildkind Kids’ merino wool accessories are made of mulesing-free merino wool. The accessories are knitted and manufactured in Tuusula, Finland by well-experienced and skilled workers.

CARE

We wish that you take good care of your Wildkind Kids clothing, as it has a difference in its environmental impact. Prolonging the life of the clothes is good for you and our planet. Here are some simple instructions on how you can make sure that your beloved Wildkind Kids items will last.

Wildkind Kids is committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production pattern. We are especially enthusiastic about the goal 12.5 that encourages to reduce waste through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
WASH RIGHT
A big part of clothing’s environmental impact comes from the way you wash, dry and care for your clothes. It means that you can make a difference in the environmental impact. Taking good care of your Wildkind Kids item will make it last longer and in better shape. Here’s what you can do:

Wash only if needed, small stains can be
Wash full loads
Lower the washing temperature
Dose detergent correctly, don’t use fabric softener
Let clothes air dry

REPAIR
Kids often give TLC to their favourite clothes, and knees and elbows get torn easily. Small holes can easily be fixed with a few stitches or cute patches. Mending only adds to the character of your favourite piece and shows that it has been loved!
RESELL
Something old for you can be a treasure for someone else! When your wild-kind has outgrown the clothes, pass them on to the next kid. Wildkind Kids garments have good second-hand value when resold.

DONATE
Clean and intact pieces can be handed into charity or second-hand shops. Remember to make sure that donated items are in good, wearable condition.
RECYCLE
There’s no reason why clothes should end up in the trash when better options exist. If clothes are stained, torn or otherwise unwearable, they can be recycled and made into new items. Many recycling organisations take your used clothes and repurpose them. Hand in clothes at your local textile collection points to prevent them from being wasted into landfills.

89 % of Wildkind Kids collection can be recycled post-consumer textile fibres.
